A Gospel LifeFollowing Francis' example, Clare, together with her sisters at San Damiano, let herself be guided, like the disciples around Jesus, by the word of God and by the contemplation of the poor Christ. This inspiration was so strong that Clare firmly invites us, at the beginning and at the end of the text she has left us, "always to observe the holy Gospel". - This means that she commits herself to a very simple way of life, without material security and without claiming the right to anything as her own.
- Her heart is united with the heart of Christ, through celibacy freely undertaken, that "all may be one in Christ."
- Her obedience means that she will always listen and respond wholeheartedly to what God is asking of her, as expressed through the will and the needs of her Sisters.
- And she is willing always to remain "at home" in her community, so that she is always present for God and for her Sisters.

"The Form of Life of the Order of Poor Sisters that Blessed Francis established is this: to observe the holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, by living in obedience, without anything of one's own and in chastity." (Clare)

"He sees only good in you, therefore you should respond with full joy and set no limit to your rejoicing." (Clare)
"Blessed are those who receive the gift of walking in this Way and of persevering in it to the end." (Clare)
